Speech and Language Therapy

Our Speech and Language Therapists will help your child learn to maximise their residual hearing and to develop their speaking, communication and social skills. All children have individual weekly speech and language lessons. Some need more frequent lessons, which are tailored to suit you child’s changing needs during the time at school. Our after school group speech and language lessons are also very popular. Small groups of girls also have weekly meetings to develop language and social skills relating to women’s issues.

Through speech and language therapy we will help your child to develop the language and the strategies for the following:-

• expressing feelings and opinions
• making informed choices
• making and developing relationships
• making predictions
• explaining
• retelling events
• enquiring and imagining

Our Speech and Language Therapists work very closely with teaching and care staff so your child’s speaking and listening targets can be encouraged and assisted in all areas of school life.
